AIM
The aim of this course is to provide all Petroleum Industry workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) emergencies.
CONTENT
Areas of study will include the following:
- H2S properties; initial response strategy
- Respiratory Protective Equipment
- Detection of H2S
- Rescue Techniques and Rescue Breathing
- Case Studies
Practical training will be conducted in the following subjects:
- Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
- Supplied Air Breathing Apparatus (on request)
- Gas Detection
- Rescue Techniques and Rescue Breathing
DURATION: Eight (8) hours.
PREREQUISITES
- Trainees are expected to participate in all physical training requirements.
- A medical is not required, however all trainees will complete a statement of health form on the first day of the course.
- A valid Government Identification is required and must be presented for registration and to the instructor on the first day of course commencement. (Driver’s License, Passport, Vantage card
CERTIFICATION
H2S Alive requires a formal examination with a pass mark of 70%.
All persons who successfully complete the course based on the knowledge and performance standards will receive:
- An H2S Alive Certificate (global recognition, validity of 3 years), issued by Energy Safety Canada
